Hybrid meetings have become a critical part of connecting teams, but how do you make sure they’re effective?
TIP 1: Do your preparation.
Make sure the purpose of the meeting is clear, communicated in advance and repeated at the beginning of the meeting. Make sure you have the right people to achieve your purpose.
TIP 2: Be inclusive.
Make sure everyone knows each other. If they don’t, create an opportunity to introduce yourself and make sure everyone feels welcome and included.
TIP 3: Ensure a level playing field.
Make sure everyone has the right technology and knows how to use it so they can contribute meaningfully. Do an audio and visual check of everyone if new people join.
TIP 4: Allow more time.
Hybrid meetings are very different from face-to-face and fully remote meetings. Activities and discussions may take longer. Allow more time for a hybrid meeting.
TIP 5: Have a facilitator.
Hybrid meetings also require facilitation, someone focused on the flow of the meeting, so participants can focus on the content.
TIP 6: Agree on the following steps.
Like any meeting, make sure all follow-up actions have identified owners and responsibilities.
